The entry Mazda6 GX trim comes standard with G-Vectoring Control, a technology that extracts much more grip from the front and rear tires, improving vehicle responsiveness and stability according to the driver’s intentions. G-Vectoring Control also greatly reduces the size and frequency of steering corrections and minimizes the swaying of head and body experienced by vehicle occupants, giving them a more comfortable ride.
Other standard safety technologies are dual front and side airbags, side curtain airbags, front safety belt pretensioners, and whiplash-reducing front seat headrests. Also standard on GX is a wide-angle rearview camera, dynamic stability control, traction control, and hill launch assist.
The GS trim adds these driver assistance technologies: smart city brake support, advanced blind spot monitoring, and rear cross traffic alert.
The top-trim GT level includes everything mentioned so far, plus traffic sign recognition. The available GT Technology Package gives you additional safety systems that include lane departure warning, lane-keep assist, smart brake support, forward obstruction warning, high beam control system, distance recognition support system, and radar cruise control. Connectivity And Convenience Technology
The Mazda6 GX has standard features such as a 7” colour touchscreen display with Mazda Connect, HMI Commander, 6-speaker AM/FM/HD/CD audio system with MP3 capability, automatic volume control, 2 USB ports, auxiliary input, and steering wheel audio controls. You also get Bluetooth with steering wheel controls, plus Aha, Stitcher, and SMS text message functionality. Other standard features on the GX include keyless entry with push button start, electronic parking brake, and cruise control with steering wheel controls.
The GS provides these additional tech features: voice activated touchscreen navigation, automatic dual-zone climate control, heated steering wheel, and advanced keyless entry.
The GT adds an 11-speaker BOSE premium audio system, colour multi-information and driving displays, LED headlights and fog lights, an adaptive front lighting system that turns when the road curves, automatic dimming interior and driver’s side mirrors, Homelink, LED interior lighting. The optional GT Technology Package provides Sirius XM radio and a shark fin antenna.
Special Fuel Efficiency Technologies Available
The 2017 Mazda6 GT Technology Package also offers two high-tech fuel efficiency technologies: i-ELOOP regenerative braking, and active air shutters.
i-ELOOP continuously recovers kinetic energy from the brakes of the Mazda6 as the vehicle decelerates, stores it as electricity, and reuses it later. It can be used to power the headlights, climate control, audio system, or any other electrical equipment. This improves fuel economy by reducing the need for the engine to burn extra fuel.
The active air shutters control the airflow through the Mazda6’s front grille. They are open when the engine needs cooling air, and are closed at other times, which improves airflow around the vehicle and increases fuel economy.
