Introducing the 2019 Mazda MX-5
There’s one car that’s been consistently about the driving experience since its original introduction in 1989. The Mazda MX-5 is all about the driver. Whenever you get in the cockpit, nothing can take the smile off your face. That’s exactly how you’ll still feel today when you take the 2019 Mazda MX-5 for a spin.
Whether you’re a sports car purist or an enthusiast, the 2019 Mazda MX-5 is the standard in compact sports cars today. For this model year, the 2019 Mazda MX-5 has been tweaked for even more enjoyment. You’ll find the 2019 Mazda MX-5 in Barrie, ON at your local dealer, Moffatt’s Mazda.
What’s New for the Mazda MX-5 in 2019
It’s not easy to improve on the benchmark, especially for a car this fun, but Mazda has done it. While modest, the enhancements made for the 2019 Mazda MX-5 offer significant value and safety, and a more enjoyable drive than ever.
The revamped Mazda MX-5 has undergone some retooling under the hood. Its 2.0-liter SKYACTIV-2 four-cylinder engine has gone from 155 horsepower to 181, an increase of 17 percent. The changes come from minimal modifications like upsized fuel injectors, reducing piston and connecting rod weights, modifying the valve opening angle, and changing the exhaust ports. The mods also increase top RPMs from 6,800 to 7,500, adding performance on the high end too.
Along with more power, you’d expect a decrease in efficiency, but it’s not so. The 2019 Mazda MX-5 is better on fuel than before, and that’s a welcome change!
A Top-Down Change
First impressions are so important, even for a fun compact convertible like the Mazda MX-5. 2019 sees a new colour choice for the convertible top – a natural-looking brown soft top – that embraces the KODO Soul of Motion design philosophy.
At ground level, there are two new wheel options available for the 2019 Mazda MX-5. You can select either 16-inch or 17-inch wheels finished in black metallic, complementing the overall design with a subtle yet sporty look.
The 2019 Mazda MX-5 may be a sports car for purists, but safety still reigns supreme. As such, the MX-5 gets a new standard-equipment rearview camera to unveil the hidden dangers behind your car when reversing.
More i-ACTIVSENSE technologies are standard on the 2019 Mazda MX-5, but two notable options are now available on select cars. Traffic Sign Recognition notifies the driver of traffic changes that you might miss, while Smart City Brake Support provides added safety at low-speed operation.
An Intuitive Feel
The revamped Mazda MX-5 2019 has a few subtle differences that significantly improve the overall experience. It starts when you enter the car – the doors are easier to open, and door stops have been redesigned. Interior changes find the cupholders and seat leavers improved upon too. And making the driving experience more comfortable for every driver is a telescopic adjustable steering wheel with 42mm of travel.
It’s all about the drive with the Mazda MX-5, and it always has been. The 2019 Mazda MX-5 is the best version so far, and you’ll soon find it available at your local dealer in Barrie, ON, Moffatt’s Mazda.
